Hollyoaks is finally rid of hate group member Jonny Baxter after a year of grooming Ste Hay.

Ray Quinn's exit scenes aired in Monday's (November 18) first-look episode, following the brutal death of the group's leader Stuart Sumner while trying to enact his revenge on Ste.

As those witness to Stuart's demise were giving their statements to investigators, vindictive Jonny tried to twist the knife by insisting that Stuart's son Sid Sumner (Billy Price) intentionally killed his dad.

"That little psycho meant to push Stuart to his death. It was murder," he insisted.

The police had no choice but to open a murder investigation, with Sami Maalik (Rishi Nair) agreeing to represent the boy after seeing him being led off in handcuffs by police.

Their barrister-client relationship got off to a rocky start when Sid confessed that he'd long wanted to kill his father because of his horrific abuse.

"I wanted to do it for ages, and there he was just standing there. I pushed him. I murdered my dad," he blurted out.

Sami was eventually able to convince the teen not to admit to those feelings in a taped confession with police, which forced investigators to release Sid pending further investigation.

This is where Ste finally decided to stand his ground by confronting Jonny, who had been arrested on charges of kidnapping and conspiracy to commit murder.

"You do know this hateful little cause of ours, it's ruined your life," he stressed, with Jonny firing back: "No, you did! You and that stupid little traitor Sid. I was nothing. I had nothing before Stuart took me in.

"He was the closest thing to family I ever had. The only family I ever had."

"You talk so much about family and community, and how it's been stolen from us. No it's not," Ste interrupted. "Leela, Tony, Peri, Sinead, Sami, they are my community. I don't feel hate anymore. I just hope you can get there someday."

As Ste walked away, Jonny crumbled as tears fell from his eyes. Unfortunately for Ste, his intuition about Sid was correct when he rejected an offer to move in with Leela Lomax (Kirsty-Leigh Porter) because he felt he wasn't deserving of their help.

Meanwhile, Ste tried moving on from his involvement with the hate group by falling into bed with Azim Desai (Nav Sidhu). But will the Maaliks approve?

While Monday's episode was Ray Quinn's swansong in the village, he will soon be back on screens for the Dancing on Ice Christmas launch special along with Gemma Collins.

Hollyoaks airs Mondays through Fridays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first-look episodes airing on E4 at 7pm.
