Yahoo News Hollyoaks airs shock passion for Mandy and Darren
Hollyoaks just aired a new twist in the lead-up to Mandy Richardson and Luke Morgan's wedding as she kissed their friend Darren Osborne.
Fans know that Mandy and Luke will be heading up the aisle next week, but it's now looking like his divorce won't be the only thing standing in their way.
Tonight's first-look episode (January 17) saw Mandy (Sarah Jayne Dunn) left devastated when she started to fear that Luke didn't actually want to marry her at all.
Having come up with several feeble excuses, Luke then went one step too far by destroying Mandy's wedding dress – leaving her convinced that he was trying to find a way out of it.
Of course, viewers know that Luke is under pressure to postpone the wedding due to the fact that he isn't divorced from his ex-wife Scarlett – who he has spent the last few weeks trying to track down.
Aware of what is really going on, Darren (Ashley Taylor Dawson) did his best to comfort a devastated Mandy in the aftermath of the wedding dress disaster – insisting that Luke does love her.
Desperate to keep her hopes up about the future, Darren told Mandy that they'd managed to find the deposit they needed to secure Nightingales – and this could only be a good thing when it came to getting her daughter Ella back.
However, the pair were caught off guard amid all the excitement and ended up sharing a kiss – which took them both by surprise.
Fans will have to wait and see if Darren and Mandy's passion is a one off, or whether it could lead to a full-blown affair, but it certainly adds a new spin on the impending wedding drama.
Hollyoaks bosses are keeping quiet about exactly what happens at the ceremony, but we've already revealed how Darren will consider putting a stop to the nuptials after Luke's secret wife Scarlett turns up in the village.
Up until this point, it's seemed like Darren was well-intentioned, but could he have an ulterior motive following his kiss with Mandy?
Hollyoaks airs weeknights at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first-look screenings at 7pm on E4.
