Hollyoaks' Mac Nightingale could be about to be unveiled as the killer he is as he's arrested during the memorial service for Neeta Kaur next week.

The villagers are currently unaware that Mac was responsible for the blast that caused terror at Hollyoaks High – and they also have no idea that he used the opportunity to get rid of his unfaithful partner Neeta Kaur forever.

But, after scenes this week saw Jack Osborne get suspicious of Mac after catching him trying to tend with a bad burn on the side of his body, Mac decides to silence Jack for good, only to be left panicking when he realises he didn't quite finish the job.

The whole situation leads to Mac being in a bit of a mess by the time Neeta's memorial comes around, which only leads to more shock among the villagers when he's later arrested on suspicion of causing the school explosion during the middle of the service.

"Mac doesn't really want to be there, but he has to show face," actor David Easter reveals in a new interview.

"He's genuinely upset for what he's done. When he stands up to read his eulogy, he's in such a mess he accidentally incriminates himself by saying he was with Neeta at the time of the explosion. He goes crazy when Hunter turns up, and is then arrested on suspicion of causing the Hollyoaks High explosion and trying to murder Jack."

And as for Mac's relationships with all the other villagers, there's definitely no love lost there either.

"He wants to kill Hunter!" David teased. "In Mac's mind, Hunter stole his possession, Neeta, and embarrassed him beyond compare. No one takes anything that Mac holds precious without payback!

"Jack finds out that Mac caused the devastating explosion at the school, so Mac has to get rid of him," he added.

It all sets the stage for scenes featuring a lifeless Mac in The Dog car park in a flashforward next week, and after Ellie gives her dad an alibi for the explosion it looks like someone's decided to get justice for Mac's crimes for themselves.

The official suspects list points the finger at James, Marnie, Darren, Hunter and Sally, but who's to blame and what happens still remains to be seen.

Hollyoaks airs weekdays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with E4 sharing first-look episodes at 7pm.
