After countless soap whodunits this year, Hollyoaks mixes things up next week with a "who's going to do it?" storyline focusing on Mac Nightingale. The first four episodes of the week feature flashforward scenes showing a lifeless Mac in The Dog's car park after being attacked, while back in the present day, his many enemies are starting to get angrier.

With some high drama ahead, here are eight spoilers from the big week.

1. Marnie plays detective

Hollyoaks isn't wasting much time before exposing Mac as the mystery culprit who caused the recent school explosion. As we revealed at the weekend, the truth is uncovered by Myra, Sally, Hunter and Prince when they watch back some video footage of Mac at Neeta's memorial, which sees him mention being at Hollyoaks High at the time of the blast.

Sally is quick to confront Mac with her suspicions after the slip-up, but Marnie also can't resist getting involved when she tries to seduce a confession out of her ex-husband. Will Mac be tempted by Marnie, and if so, could he 'fess up in a moment of weakness?

2. James is also a Mac suspect

If you read our weekend spoilers, you'll know that three of the main suspects for Mac's attack are Hunter, Sally and Marnie – with Hunter looking particularly guilty as he clashes with his former love rival at Neeta's memorial.

Of course, we shouldn't rule out James from the running either, given the traumatic abuse that he suffered at Mac's hands when he was a child. Not too keen to do his own dirty work, James tries to manipulate Hunter next week by riling him up to take revenge. If this doesn't work, could James be forced to fight his own battles instead?

3. Lisa and Cleo become love rivals – again!

History repeats itself when Lisa and Cleo both set their sights on the same guy. Brody is the lucky man in question and he's actually responsible for sparking the love triangle, asking Cleo out when Lisa plays hard to get once too often.

Not wanting this to be a repeat of the Nathan situation, Cleo offers to step aside so that Lisa can go on a date with Brody. In bad news for Brody's ego, Lisa eventually stands him up so that she can help Cleo to look for Hunter when he goes AWOL in a dark mood. Does this mean that Brody has missed his chance with both girls? Not if the winter trailer is anything to go by...

4. Lisa's secret is revealed

We've already seen the big reveal of Mac and Lisa's affair, but it seems that nobody put Cleo in the picture. Just when it seems they've got their competition over Brody sorted out, Cleo is shocked to finally discover that Lisa was having a fling with Mac when she was supposed to be dating Nathan.

Cleo is furious over Lisa's actions and doesn't hold back when it comes to sharing some harsh words with her rival. With Lisa's temporary exit looming, could the inevitable backlash drive her away from the village?

5. Holly returns

Following the recent drama surrounding Dirk and Cindy's wedding, Holly returns from Mexico – but she certainly isn't ready to make peace with her family just yet.

Holly makes it very clear that she's not going to forgive Dirk after her sex tape was found on his laptop. While we know Dirk is completely innocent on this one, will meddling Milo ever step forward to help clear his name?

6. Damon and Holly get closer

Damon recently realised that he was better off staying friends with Elly, so could he now be moving onto her best mate Holly instead? Holly and Damon find themselves working on a Christmas stall together and they share a kiss, despite previous tensions between them.

Still understandably mistrustful of men after her rape ordeal, Holly freaks out after the kiss and Dirk fears the worst when he witnesses her emotional outburst.

Dirk later spies on Holly and Damon to make sure she's okay, but he gets overprotective and ends up attacking Damon at the village's Christmas lights switch-on. Will this make things worse between Dirk and Holly?

7. Sally's feelings for Myra return

Hollyoaks will be revisiting Sally's feelings for Myra, with the winter trailer revealing that they'll be sharing a kiss.

As seen in this new picture, Myra inadvertently gives Sally false hope that they could become a couple. Can Myra find a way to let Sally down gently?

Neeta may be a gonner after the explosion tragedy, but Myra still isn't afraid to speak ill of the dead as she remains furious over how the teaching assistant seduced Hunter.

Fiercely protective over her nephew, Myra doesn't hold back on her feelings, but Cleo intervenes by insisting that she was wrong when she angrily compared Neeta to paedophile Pete Buchanan. With Hunter's feelings to consider, will Myra back down and let him grieve for his lost love without opposition?
