Hollyoaks' Nancy Osborne will defy her husband Darren's wishes as she pursues her plans to foster newcomer Brooke next week.
Nancy has recently addressed an interest in looking after Brooke full-time, but her suggestion was met with disapproval from Darren – who is firmly against the idea.
Unbeknown to Nancy, Darren's hesitation has a lot to do with fact that he's been having an affair with their friend Mandy Richardson, which has left him unsure over the future of his marriage.
However, as Nancy recovers from her most recent MS attack tonight, she vows to push forward with her plans to foster Brooke – with or without Darren's support.
To make matters more difficult, Nancy's relapse has left her in a wheelchair and she's forced to break this news to her family when they come to visit her in Friday's first look scenes.
But despite the latest setback, Nancy remains undefeated when the social worker pays her a visit to discuss whether Brooke would be safe in her care.
With Darren still adamant that fostering Brooke is a bad idea, Nancy certainly has a fight on her hands. But will her persistence pay off? And how is this going to impact her already-fragile marriage?
Jessica Fox – who plays her – said: "I think Nancy had an instant connection with Brooke.
"She sees this sparky, smart girl who is in such a vulnerable position, now she is forced to grow up alone without any support. It breaks Nancy's heart, as I think she can identify with Brooke. She doesn't always get it right, but her heart is in the right place."
Discussing how Nancy feels about her latest health setback, Jessica added: "She's putting on a brave face and is determined it's not going to change anything... but of course it is."
Hollyoaks airs weeknights at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first look screenings at 7pm on E4.
