Ste Hay is ready to fight for his freedom on Hollyoaks after pleading not guilty to Amy Barnes's murder.
The all-important plea hearing just aired in Wednesday's E4 first look episode (April 26), which saw Ste's fiancé Harry Thompson pull off a crazy plan to save him.
With Harry convinced that Ste's 'memories' of killing Amy were false, all he needed was a chance to persuade him before he made a terrible mistake in court.
In a daring plan, Harry (Parry Glasspool) caused a major scene in the courtroom by loudly shouting that his dad Tony Hutchinson had brought a gun into the witness gallery.
As poor Tony got dragged off and proceedings were delayed, the chaotic scenes gave Harry the opportunity to briefly speak to Ste and urge him to see sense.
Although Ste still had his doubts, he eventually discovered Harry could be onto something when he realised the loyal teen was right about a discrepancy over who he called on the night of Amy's murder.
While Ste could 'remember' phoning Tony, he actually called his drug dealer that night and was stunned when the real memory finally came back to him.
With fresh hope, Ste shocked everyone by pleading not guilty back in the courtroom – setting the stage for a trial later in the year.
It now looks more likely than ever that Ste is actually innocent – especially now that we know Kieron Richardson's "slip-up" on This Morning which pointed to him as the killer was just as unreliable as Ste's memories!
Harry, James, Ryan, Mercedes, DS Armstrong and an unknown mystery suspect are all in the frame – with more twists and turns to come over the next few weeks.
Hollyoaks airs weeknights at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first look screenings at 7pm on E4.
