Hollyoaks star Kieron Richardson's real-life husband has been brought in to film as a body double, which suggests that Ste Hay is gearing up to share some intimate scenes with a certain character.
"McHay scenes are on the way, people," the account teased. "Did you ship McHay back in the day?"
Due to COVID concerns and social distancing rules between actors, body doubles brought in by shows who require characters to be closer during certain moments are typically family members of the existing cast.
Richardson's Ste and John Paul, who is played by James Sutton, used to be married on the show so Hyland's stint could be a hint that the twosome will soon be rekindling their romance. Ste is single at the moment, while John Paul is dating abusive policeman George Kiss (Callum Kerr).
Fans appeared to have mixed reactions to the idea on social media, with many of the page's followers voicing their disappointment that Hyland won't be standing in for James Nightingale, the lawyer Ste has been getting close to in recent weeks.
"McHay was cool but been there [done] that," one fan wrote. "Ste and James are kinda fun at the minute. John Paul needs something fresh."
"Nooooo I'm so down for Ste and James," another added.
Hollyoaks currently airs new episodes from Mondays to Thursdays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first look screenings at 7pm on E4.
