Hollyoaks brings in Sarah Jayne Dunn's real-life husband as body double

From Digital Spy

Hollyoaks has brought in Sarah Jayne Dunn's real-life husband Jonathan for an essential reason.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, Jonathan will be joining the soap to film his wife's romantic scenes, stepping in as body double for her on-screen husband Ashley Taylor Dawson (Darren Osborne).

"It was odd as it crosses that line between Mandy’s world and my world," Sarah told The Mirror.

"Suddenly I'm there facing my husband as Mandy and it feels weird. But we need that intimacy in the scenes. It meant we could have a hug rather than look at each other awkwardly."

"He enjoyed it," she added. "He was an actor as well and we met when we did a theatre production. He was the perfect person to get in as he's not fazed by it."

Jonathan isn't the only real-life partner to be brought into the soap for smooching scenes. Back in November, former Hollyoaks star Kyle Pryor returned to the show to film with his girlfriend Anna Passey, who plays Sienna Blake.

When asked during an interview what the going rate for a body double was, Kyle replied: "To be honest, any amount of money to go in and kiss my partner is fine by me, it's an easy day's work."

Hollyoaks currently airs new episodes from Mondays to Thursdays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first look screenings at 7pm on E4.
