Hollyoaks' Cindy Cunningham is set to receive some upsetting news as one of Luke's relatives visits the village.

Digital Spy exclusively revealed earlier this month that the soap had cast former Casualty star Cathy Shipton in the role of Luke's grieving aunt.

Cathy will be playing Lydia – the wife of Luke and Zara's deceased uncle – with her arrival airing on Monday (August 30).

Luke and Zara's uncle passed away from FTD – the same condition that Luke has – and Lydia comes to the village to see Cindy.

Cindy talks to Lydia about Luke's condition and what she will need to get through it, giving her a lot to think about as Cindy has grown increasingly concerned recently that Luke's condition is getting worse.

Later, when Luke doesn't come home following a drastic plan to stage a robbery at The Hutch and claim on the insurance, Cindy and Zara are shocked to discover what's happened.

Cindy is then further distressed to hear from Lydia that Luke is exhibiting behaviours that her husband had six months before he died.

Luke's impulsiveness is getting out of hand as he plans a 'world tour' honeymoon for after the wedding, so Zara asks Cindy to talk to a specialist.

After the meeting, Cindy confides in their closest friends, Mandy, Darren and Tony, about her belief that Luke hasn't got long left.

Later, Luke reveals a romantic gesture for Cindy, and she is forced to put on a brave face.

Hollyoaks airs these scenes in the week commencing Monday, August 30 at 6.30pm on Channel 4 and 7pm on E4.

Hollyoaks airs new episodes from Mondays to Fridays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first-look screenings at 7pm on E4. Selected omnibus episodes are available via Amazon Prime Video.
