Hollyoaks' Ste Hay may have just talked his way into a life behind bars as he confessed to Amy Barnes's murder in the show's latest E4 episode.

Another dramatic visit to Chester started off with a bang, as Ste (Kieron Richardson) and his fiancé Harry Thompson were both arrested by DS Armstrong as part of the ongoing investigation into Amy's death.

Ste, Harry and Diane Hutchinson all ended up being questioned separately by Armstrong, who piled on the pressure in his usual tough style.

Although Harry (Parry Glasspool) loyally stuck by his false alibi to protect Ste, nervous Diane completely cracked under interrogation and revealed that Ste was actually in Amy's flat on the night she was murdered.

Diane's confession had big consequences for her stepson, as Harry was charged for lying to the police.

Next on DS Armstrong's agenda was forcing Ste to admit to Amy's death and his tough tactics eventually worked when Ste's confusing flashbacks finally pieced together in his mind.

Ste admitted to killing Amy after appearing to realise his own guilt, but only time will tell whether he really did it or not. This is Hollyoaks after all, so there'll surely be more twists and turns to come...

Earlier this week, we revealed that seven different endings are being filmed to this Hollyoaks mystery – with Ste, Harry, Ryan, Mercedes, James, DS Armstrong and a top-secret suspect all in the frame.

Hollyoaks airs weeknights at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first look screenings at 7pm on E4.
