Breda McQueen took her plot to kill 'bad dad' Darren Osborne to the next level in the latest Hollyoaks episode.

The serial killer (Moya Brady) has had her eye on Darren (Ashley Taylor Dawson) ever since he turned up drunk to pick up Oscar from Tom's Turtles earlier in the summer.

Earlier this week, Breda became convinced God had given her a sign to murder Darren after he again started slacking on his fatherly duties.

Breda put her plans in motion during Thursday's (August 22) first-look episode, baking a poisonous cake that would add Darren to her hit list of 'bad dads' with just one bite.

"Once again, Darren has failed to turn up for his children," she grumbled. "All he ever does is ignore the little ones! He thinks only of himself!"

She then warned: "He is constantly making the wrong decisions and I'm running out of time to teach him the error of his ways!"

The crazed murderer also confronted Mandy Richardson (Sarah Jayne Dunn), demanding to know why she put up with Darren being a bad father to his kids.

"Darren's kids love him so much they would spend every second with him if they could," Mandy explained. "He supports me in ways I can't begin to describe. You're not there in the middle of the night when DJ wakes up crying and Darren is the first one out of bed… He's doing his best!"

She then assured Breda: "He's not perfect, but no-one is. I know he might not live up to your professional standards, but if you're serious about helping out the kids, please just give Darren a bit more time to prove himself."

Luckily for Darren, Mandy's defence was enough to convince Breda to dump the poisonous cake batter in the waste can and save his life. For now!

The serial killer has other problems on her hands, with the police seemingly closing in on identifying her for the murder of Louis Loveday due to new forensic evidence.
