Felix Westwood's fate has been revealed following an underwater stunt in Hollyoaks.

Thursday's (September 9) E4 first-look episode was part of the Black to Front Project, featuring an all-Black cast and crew in an hour-long special.

The episode centred on the Deverauxs' BBQ, where friends (including newcomers Pearl and Sharon) had a long-awaited reunion with the soap's popular family.

The stage was set earlier this week for Felix to return to the village to finally make his true feelings known to longtime love Martine.

Felix didn't get very far before his estranged son DeMarcus showed up to reveal that his dad had run out on him to get back with Martine.

"What is all this talk about Black women being strong for their families?" a disappointed Martine asked Felix. "What about the brothers? What about the strong Black men being there for their families? The role models."

Felix then dropped the bombshell that it had been Walter who'd sent him away from the village, leaving Martine – shocked especially after she found out Celeste had known about it.

Martine set off to take out a paddle boat on her own, with Felix following to try to plead his case: "Do you want to know the reason why I left? Because I didn't think I was good enough for you.

"When your dad said you were better off without me, I had to ask, what have I brought to your life except countless tears?... [but] you make me want to be a better man. There you have it, my cards are on the table."

The two finally reached common ground in time for Felix's son DeMarcus to join them on his own paddle boat. However, disaster struck when DeMarcus demanded answers from his dad.

DeMarcus's boat accidentally rammed Felix's, sending his dad tumbling below the surface of the lake. Martine wasted no time in diving down and dragging Felix back from the bottom of the lake.

It was ultimately Walter performing CPR that brought an unconscious Felix back. Felix made it clear to DeMarcus he didn't blame him for the accident and even invited him to move to Hollyoaks.

In an emotional moment, Martine also assured Felix that she believes he's "good enough" to support her through her cancer battle.

"I love you, Felix Westwood," she told him.

The end of the episode teased there is more drama to come as newcomer Nate (Chris Charles) was shown laying out photos of each resident of Hollyoaks, before stopping on Felix's picture.
