Hollyoaks spoilers follow.
Hollyoaks has confirmed that Cher McQueen will go through her own trolling ordeal after launching a social media hate campaign against stepmum Mercedes McQueen.
Cher (Bethannie Hare) has a vendetta against Mercedes (Jennifer Metcalfe), with her behaviour growing increasingly darker by finding new ways to target Mercedes, including recently leaking a sex video that Mercedes had recorded.
Next week, Cher will make an anti-trolling video, but unfortunately it will result in the real trolls surfacing, now making her the target.
Ironically, it will be Mercedes who wants to support Cher following the online abuse she has been getting, unaware that it's been Cher trolling her.
With Mercedes and Yazz's help, Cher will record her own empowerment video as a reply to the trolls, desperate for them to leave her alone. But will the situation be sorted so easily?
Meanwhile, earlier this month, Jennifer Metcalfe, who plays Mercedes, opened up about the response to her tragic stillbirth storyline in 2015.
"It was upsetting, it was rewarding, it was gorgeous to know that I could help so many people," she said of the plot. "I've never, ever had a response about a storyline like I've had from that one.
"You're just doing a storyline, you're just doing a job, you're giving it the justice that you know it deserves. But then to realise how many people you've helped... it was something else."
Hollyoaks airs these scenes on Monday, April 5 and Tuesday, April 6 at 6.30pm on Channel 4.
