Earlier this week, Damon (Jacob Roberts) announced plans for his wife's loved ones to share their feelings for her while she's still alive after she lied about having a non-existent tumour returning.
In Wednesday's (August 21) first-look episode on E4, it was the day of the living funeral. Things got off to an inauspicious start when Damon was caught dipping into Max's medical fund again by Brody (Adam Woodward).
While Damon tried justifying his theft by claiming he was just trying to make Maxine's final days the best she could ever imagine, Brody gave him a reality check.
"Friends of yours who have almost nothing still gave, and you have treated them like idiots," Brody insisted. "You treated me like one!"
Maxine was also being confronted over her many lies by best friend Sienna Blake (Anna Passey), with Sienna urging her to finally come clean with all of her loved ones during the ceremony.
"I can't just go cold turkey," Max admitted. "I just need this one last fix, and then I promise I'll give it all up!"
When it came time for the living funeral, Maxine basked in the glory as Liberty (Jessamy Stoddart) sang one of her kooky songs in Max's honour.
After emotional speeches from Nancy (Jessica Fox), Grace (Tamara Wall) and even Darren (Ashley Taylor Dawson), it was time for Maxine to address her loved ones.
Just when it looked like a conflicted Maxine might finally come clean about her Munchausen syndrome, police entered… and took Damon into custody.
"Damon Kinsella, you're arrested for fraud," the detective announced. "You've embezzled thousands of pounds out of your wife's charity fund!"
We'll have to wait until tomorrow to find out who turned Damon in!
