Hollyoaks spoilers follow.
Darren Osborne has made a life-changing decision to save his ex-wife Nancy Hayton from arrest in Hollyoaks.
In Wednesday's (February 10) first-look episode, Darren (Ashley Taylor Dawson) and Mandy (Sarah Jayne Dunn) were due to pick up the cash from their shares in the restaurant to pay off their mortgage.
But, their plans were sidelined when Darren got a call from his dad telling him about Nancy (Jessica Fox) throwing Sid's (Billy Price) prosthetic leg in the river.
Ste (Kieron Richardson) was boiling over what Nancy had done, since it would cost ten grand to replace Sid's prosthetic — he was determined to make Nancy pay somehow.
Nancy soon came round to apologise, but Sid got her to admit she was only sorry about throwing his prosthetic. She stood behind blaming him for Charlie's arrest.
When Ste demanded Nancy come up with the £10,000 to replace Sid's prosthetic, she flatly refused because she didn't have the cash.
"You better find it, or you can add an assault charge to that very long list of problems," Ste warned.
Throughout the rest of the episode, Mandy and Darren picked up their cash from The Hutch, while Nancy shared her fears over how she was going to come up with the money.
Darren tried to talk to Ste into giving Nancy more time before going to the police, but he flatly refused. Finally, Darren pulled out the stack of cash he'd just got at The Hutch and handed it over to Ste on Nancy's behalf.
A horrified Mandy saw Darren giving over the money and confronted her partner, demanding to know: "Please tell me that wasn't what I think it was! Darren, did you just lose us our home?"
There will be yet more complications for the couple next week as Darren and Nancy start to grow increasingly close once again.
Hollyoaks currently airs new episodes from Mondays to Thursdays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first look screenings at 7pm on E4.
