As Mercedes (Jennifer Metcalfe) continues to be spooked by her own son Bobby leaving her a series of threatening messages, her husband Sylver McQueen (David Tag) remains locked up for the recent shooting as revenge for his affair with Grace Black (Tamara Wall).
Wednesday's (December 11) first-look episode on E4 brought another village resident into suspicion over the crime as Diane (Alex Fletcher) struggled to move on from her son Finn's emotional departure this week.
Nancy Hayton (Jessica Fox) attempted to put all of the bad blood over Finn behind her by inviting Diane out for drinks, yet Edward Hutchinson (Joe McGann) wanted to worm his way into an invite too.
When Nancy shut him down by insisting it'd be a girls' night, devious Edward convinced Jack Osborne (Jimmy McKenna) to come along with him to The Dog's quiz night — unaware that Edward just wanted to keep an eye on Diane.
The quiz night ended up a shambles when Grace Black angrily confronted Mercedes about the police's recent findings that blood samples didn't actually match Sylver.
"You put Sylver in prison based on a big, fat lie," she alleged.
Grace's revelation caused Diane's blood to run cold, as she later made a shocking admission to Edward about the night of the shooting.
"The blood that they found at the loft was mine," she confessed.
While it's not yet clear if Diane actually shot Mercy, she is one of the seven official suspects and has previously exhibited some suspicious behaviour.
The first clue was Diane being shown outside The Loft minutes before Mercedes was shot. After the shooting, Diane also stalked Mercedes in the hospital, before being caught by Misbah (Harvey Virdi).
The biggest question now is what Edward will do with his damning evidence against Diane…
