Hollyoaks spoilers follow.
Edward Hutchinson has threatened Diane in frightening new Hollyoaks scenes.
Last week's episodes left off on the bombshell of Tony and Verity discovering that Edward planned to take a comatose Diane and the children away to Scotland so he could have them to himself.
In Monday night's (December 21) first-look episode, Tony (Nick Pickard) warned his father that he would not let him take Diane away from Hollyoaks without a fight.
Edward (Joe McGann) insisted Tony had "absolutely no sway" in making decisions for Diane, as he was just her "soon-to-be ex-husband who'd put her in a coma". Of course, it was Edward who'd actually attacked Diane.
Edward issued another terrifying warning to daughter Verity (Eva O'Hara) again as well, while Tony paid a secret visit to Misbah (Harvey Virdi) over at the hospital.
Tony raised Misbah's suspicions by revealing that Edward had been planning to discharge Diane, something she knew was "bad practice".
Misbah was then shocked to find out that Edward had never ordered any blood tests on Diane, so she threatened to go over his head to make sure Diane would get some.
Tony later confronted his father as well, insisting that everyone was "onto [him] now". Sensing that his plan was crumbling, Edward somberly visited Diane in her hospital room.
"The blood test will reveal a sedative in your system, it will reveal me," he admitted. "I could be struck off, sent to prison, definitely lose you."
"If only you'd loved me as much as I loved you, we might have had our happy ending," he told the comatose Diane. "I come second to no man, especially not my useless son but it seems Tony won't stop until you stop breathing.
"But if I can't have you, then why should anybody else?"
Edward closed the curtain around Diane's bed as the episode ended. With spoilers already revealing that Tony will be told Diane has died in future episodes, what has Edward done?
Hollyoaks currently airs new episodes from Mondays to Thursdays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first look screenings at 7pm on E4. Classic episodes, titled Hollyoaks Favourites, air on Fridays at 7pm on E4.
