Hollyoaks explains flashforward mystery as shock incident brings Marnie and Misbah closer

From Digital Spy

Hollyoaks fans will be pleased to see some answers unravelling from the big flashforward episode last year.

Viewers may have noticed in that episode that Marnie Nightingale and Misbah Maalik were really close and embracing as though they were the best of friends, well in tonight's (October 1) first-look episode we saw a shock incident bring them together.

As part of the ongoing County Lines drug dealing storyline, Jordan and Victor attempted to rob the pâtisserie to try and get money back from the drugs they lost to Juliet and Sid.

Marnie (Lysette Anthony) was of course working, and Misbah (Harvey Virdi) had popped in to buy some cakes when the two masked men came in and demanded she opened the till, however due to the pandemic there was no money in the till and they left empty-handed.

Marnie was terrified, but Misbah managed to keep a cool head and calm her down.

"You know, I've always felt so safe in this village and now I'm going to constantly be looking over my shoulder," a very tearful Marnie told Misbah.

"If there's no money they won't be back," Misbah told her. "You cannot let one incident dictate how you live your life. There will always be bad elements in society.

"I live next door to some of them, but you can't cower away and let them win. You're strong, you're fearless, you're Marnie Nightingale."

Marnie replied: "You've been so wonderful, I am so lucky you were there today."

In the flashforward scene Marnie branded Misbah "the greatest friend" she'd ever had, adding: "I don't know how I would have got through this year without you".

In tonight's episode there was also a pretty terrifying comment from Jordan warning that Juliet needs to be more careful or she's going to end up in a body bag – could she be the one who is murdered in December?

Hollyoaks continues Mondays through Thursdays with first-look episodes on E4, airing at 7pm. Encore presentations air the following evening at 6.30pm on Channel 4.
