Hollyoaks fans think they've spotted a key piece of evidence which could put Ste Hay in the clear over Amy Barnes's murder.

Amy was killed by an unknown culprit in Monday's E4 episode, with all signs pointing to Ste as the mystery attacker.

However, Hollyoaks viewers are an eagle-eyed bunch and some believe they've already clocked some tell-tale signs that Ste is actually innocent.

Amy's death episode featured various flashes which appeared to show the killer covering their tracks, including washing their hands in the sink.

We then saw Ste in the bathroom straight afterwards, leading us to believe that he was the one embarking on a cover-up. But one thing wasn't quite right – different sleeves!

As seen in these pictures, the person washing their hands in the sink had dark sleeves, while Ste was wearing a light jacket – potentially putting him in the clear as the culprit.

Tonight's E4 episode will see even more suspicion fall on Ste when Tony and Diane Hutchinson find him in the shower, potentially washing away crucial evidence.

Clearly confused and disorientated after his blackout, Ste doesn't seem to know what's happened himself – which doesn't bode too well for him if he needs to put up a defence.

Earlier today, we revealed that several different outcomes are being filmed for the Amy mystery, with Ste Hay, Ryan Knight, Harry Thompson, James Nightingale, Mercedes McQueen and DS Armstrong all in the frame.

There's also a seventh mystery character who's in the mix, but we're sworn to secrecy on who this is for now, as revealing their identity would spoil another top-secret storyline coming up.

Hollyoaks airs weeknights at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first look screenings at 7pm on E4.
