Hollyoaks' James and John Paul kiss discovered

Hollyoaks spoilers follow.

Donna-Marie Quinn has discovered James Nightingale and John Paul McQueen's stolen kiss in Hollyoaks.

The former partners shared a romantic night together earlier this week, after James helped John Paul get his parent Sally off the hook for George Kiss's murder.

In Friday's first-look episode on E4, John Paul broke the news to James after their night together that he wasn't yet ready to make a proper go of things following his abusive relationship with George.

At the same time, with Sid's encouragement, Ste made the decision that he would give James one last shot to make their relationship work — not knowing what James had done the night before.

James had his hands full when he was enlisted by Peri and Juliet to help them get even with Donna-Marie because they assumed she'd broken into their room to steal a photo of Juliet's family.

"Don't worry okay," James insisted. "I know exactly how to take care of this."

His version of fixing things involved enlisting his newfound ally DS Cohen to interrogate Donna-Marie about the break-in.

"Did you only meet me so you lot could set me up?" a furious Donna-Marie asked Juliet. "And here's me thinking you actually wanted a relationship."

Later, James met up with John Paul in the alley to explain that he wanted to work things out with Ste, but it would be "essential" Ste never found out about their fling.

"Our secret," John Paul promised.

After James and John Paul went their separate ways, the scene panned over to Donna-Marie crouching behind the dumpster — now with the perfect blackmail to use against James!
