Hollyoaks' Juliet Nightingale makes big decision ahead of tragic exit

Hollyoaks spoilers follow.

Hollyoaks viewers have followed Juliet Nightingale's (Niamh Blackshaw) heartbreaking storyline in recent months after she was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma, ultimately discovering her condition is terminal.

In Tuesday's (June 6) first-look episode, Donna-Marie penned a letter to her daughter Juliet saying that although their time might be limited, they had to make what they do have left "special".

"It's about remembering your family will always be by your side, and remember, you have friends that love you almost as much as I do," she wrote.

Juliet's pain starts to be unbearable, and in an effort to get her out of the house, her brother Romeo and girlfriend Peri turn up with a wheelchair, but she refuses their help.

Going for a walk instead with Peri, Juliet reluctantly admitted that her painkillers were no longer helping, and despite the nurses "giving her the good stuff" she was still in pain.

While Donna-Marie looked for keepsakes in her daughter's room for a treat spa day she had planned to remind them of happier times, she stumbled across empty vials of morphine, and when Juliet walked in on her she presumed the worse.

Juliet plucked up the courage to have a candid conversation with her mum and lovingly told her that she and all the happy memories they have together were in her heart and that her mother's tenacity and ability to always get through the hard times had given her the strength to carry on with her battle against her illness.

Juliet said: "Every day, you have shown me how hard you have had to fight just to exist in this world; you showed me without even realising it. If it wasn't for you, I would probably be dead already."

The heartfelt moment was abruptly shattered as Juliet struggled to move, and in that emotional setting, she realised she had lost the ability to walk.

After a nurse's visit, heartbreaking scenes unfolded, as Peri told Juliet and her family that the nurse who came around suggested that they move to the next stage and take Juliet to a hospice.

"Mum, I don't want to go to the hospice; I want to be here with all of you," she shared at the end of the episode.

With her mum in tears, she added: "I want to die here."
