Yahoo News Hollyoaks' Liam arrested for vicious attack on Joel
Liam Donovan has been arrested in Hollyoaks after desperately trying to stop the truth about Grace Black's hit-and-run from coming out.
Earlier this week, Joel Dexter (Rory Douglas-Speed) discovered that Liam (Jude Monk McGowan) and Mercedes McQueen (Jennifer Metcalfe) were responsible for the attack when he found Harry Thompson's phone.
Liam later promised to sort the problem with Joel under the agreement that Mercedes would leave her family forever to run away with him the following day.
In Tuesday's (October 15) first-look episode, Liam bungled his efforts to steal the phone when Goldie McQueen (Chelsee Healey) interfered in his attempt to nab it from the McQueen residence.
Joel then cautiously chose to keep the phone on him, only for Liam to try another route by offering him a bribe to turn over the phone.
This confrontation spiralled out of control when Joel refused the bribe, provoking Liam into viciously attacking him as a warning to keep his mouth shut. Tom (Ellis Hollins) eventually found Joel and called an ambulance.
Later, Liam assured Mercedes that he'd fulfilled his part of the deal since he was confident Joel would be too scared to ever tell the truth now.
His intuition turned out to be incorrect though when police arrived to arrest Liam for assault, citing an unknown witness's testimony! The cliffhanger left Mercedes terrified once again that her secret would be exposed.
Hollyoaks airs Mondays through Fridays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first-look episodes airing on E4 at 7pm.
