Hollyoaks' Liberty escape plan goes wrong

Hollyoaks spoilers follow.

Liberty Savage's escape plot has left another life hanging in the balance in Hollyoaks.

Tuesday's first-look episode saw multiple plot strands coming together, as Liberty seized on a chance to escape from her cell while Summer was distracted.

Meanwhile, young Leah Barnes was getting involved in Tom and Romeo's adventure game, after being encouraged by her dance instructor Trish Minniver. The teen had no idea Trish was keeping her distracted so she'd miss the troupe's all-important dance competition.

The soap picked up with Sienna discovering the police's evidence against Brody in Liberty's missing person case — a bloody rag had been planted underneath his mattress (by Summer).

Summer next turned to Liberty to twist the knife on Brody by forcing her to write a letter to Brody where she'd demand full custody of baby Faith.

While Summer was slipping the note into her bag, Liberty noticed the cell door was cracked open, so she rushed out to freedom.

As Liberty raced through the woods, she realised Summer was closely following her. Liberty found a log to wield as a weapon, and when she sensed Summer was creeping up on her, she whipped around to swing it.

But Liberty hadn't knocked out Summer — she'd struck an unsuspecting Leah, who'd been sent off into the woods for the adventure game by Trish!

"What have you done?" a horrified Summer asked as she raced onto the scene.

The episode finished off with Leah's fate left up in the air!
