Hollyoaks' Lucy-Jo Hudson teases surprising new stories for Donna-Marie

Hollyoaks cast member Lucy-Jo Hudson has teased some surprising new storylines awaiting her returning character Donna-Marie Quinn.

Chatting to Inside Soap, the former Coronation Street star revealed that she's filming scenes opposite faces usually unassociated with Donna-Marie, including Kieron Richardson's Ste Hay and Ruby O'Donnell's Peri Lomax.

"I love working with Niamh [Blackshaw, who plays Juliet Nightingale], Owen [Warner, as Romeo Nightingale], Lysette [Anthony, as Marnie Nightingale] and Greg [Finnegan, as James Nightingale] – they're my little Hollyoaks family," she began.

"But I know my future scripts involve me working with Kieron, who plays Steve, and Ruby, as well as James [Sutton, as John Paul McQueen], all of who I just love!

"I also can't wait to work with Jen Metcalfe [Mercedes McQueen] – I've been told we're going to have some great stuff together, so watch this space..."

Will Hollyoaks fans welcome her troubled character back with open arms, though?

"It's a tough one to call whether they want her there – I think that you either love or hate Donna-Marie," she explained.

"Some fans will love her being back and causing chaos, and some will just find her irritating. She's like Marmite."

Hollyoaks airs weeknights at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first-look screenings at 7pm on E4.
