Hollyoaks' Luke Morgan has dumped Cindy Cunningham in heart-wrenching scenes.

Earlier in the week, Sue (Marian McLoughlin) happened to see Cindy (Stephanie Waring) paying off Ollie (Gabriel Clark) and his new girlfriend to leave town so as not to complicate things for Luke (Gary Lucy).

Sue didn't wait long to threaten to reveal what she saw in Wednesday's (June 2) first-look episode, as Cindy desperately begged her to keep the secret.

"You have not been here to see how badly things have got between Luke and Ollie," she insisted. "I have. I've seen it all, and I'm the one who's protecting your son."

In her defence, Cindy blurted out that Luke "is dying", leading Sue to seek out her son in the village to claim that "this wicked, wicked woman" had shattered her heart with the news.

Cindy ran off in shame, while Luke and his mum had a heart-to-heart about his frontotemporal dementia diagnosis. While Luke blamed himself for putting Cindy under too much stress to keep his secrets, Sue spitefully hinted he didn't know "the half of it".

That's when she revealed Cindy's arrangement for Ollie to leave the village. When Cindy returned home, she tried to explain that she was trying to protect Luke.

"All you've done is hurt the people I love," Luke angrily insisted.

After Cindy admitted that Ollie was dodging her calls since leaving the village, Luke angrily branded her a "selfish cow" and kicked her out of the house.

Once she'd left, Sue told her son: "The first thing you need to do is finish things with Cindy. She's no good for you."

Later, the two met up in the village. Cindy tried to make peace by picking up dinner for them, but Luke made it clear there would be no reconciliation.

"I need to have people around me I can trust with my life," he explained. "I can't trust you anymore."

Will Luke regret dumping Cindy?
