Hollyoaks spoilers follow.
Luke Morgan has been placed under arrest for breaking into The Hutch.
The shocking development came about in Monday's first-look E4 episode as he tried to come up with a way to bail out the restaurant from its financial troubles.
Everything started out well enough when he convinced business partner Tony Hutchinson their friends could save The Hutch by spending the full day selling pizzas.
This turned out not to be the case when they discovered Luke was underselling the pizzas, in spite of everyone putting in their full efforts.
Luke later chatted with Walter about the recent robbery at the Price Slice, giving him a more risky idea of how to get the money his friends needed to save The Hutch.
He went to Tony with a secret plan to stage a fake break-in as a way for them to claim insurance money on the property.
"You leave the safe open. I'll break in. I'll knock the safe around a little bit, make it look like it's been smashed. Whatever pittance is in there, we'll tell the insurance company it was thousands," Luke insisted.
While Tony was sceptical, Luke warned him if they didn't go through with his robbery plan, the business would be ruined.
Tony finally relented, so Luke agreed to break in later that night. Meanwhile, his auntie Lydia (Cathy Shipton) arrived in the village to break the news that his uncle died from FTP.
Cindy and Zara sat with her, as she explained what they might be able to expect since Luke had been diagnosed with the same condition.
Lydia encouraged Cindy to have a community around her for support and keep goals in mind, while realising that Luke's actions could become more erratic as the disease progressed.
At that very moment, Luke was breaking into the restaurant with only 60 seconds to carry out the scheme before their security system alerted police.
Cindy called up Luke to encourage him to come home and hear what Lydia had to say. Luke was distracted by the call for long enough that police arrived to arrest him on suspicion of breaking and entering!
Soap bosses have already revealed that this plot twist will be a part of a continuing story that will see Luke, Tony and their friends potentially losing control of The Hutch.
