Hollyoaks spoilers follow.
Mercedes McQueen has finally learned the truth about Cher Winters's treachery in Hollyoaks.
Cher has been waging a secret hate campaign against her stepmum for months, having most recently convinced Mercy she'd kidnapped Tony and Diane's newborn daughter Eva in a manic state.
However, Mercedes has since discovered she couldn't have actually taken Eva, so she's been trying to work out who'd stitched her up for the crime.
In Monday's (July 26) first-look episode, Mercedes continued her conversation, as she questioned Romeo Nightingale over the day of the kidnapping.
When Goldie McQueen walked in on their conversation, Mercy viciously turned on her relative by accusing her of setting up the scheme — since Goldie has known about Mercedes' fling with Romeo.
"You know, I've been racking my brain, trying to figure out who hates me so much that they want me out of the way? It was you, wasn't it?" Mercedes alleged.
"I've got no idea what you're on about," Goldie insisted. "How can I set you up for something you've already admitted?"
Mercedes eventually backed off at husband Sylver's urging, but confessed to Nana McQueen that Goldie was still her prime suspect.
Peri Lomax, who knows the truth about Cher's scheming, overheard the conversation and assumed Mercy had worked it out too.
"I know what she did with the baby was messed up, but she was just lashing out," Peri explained. "Cher isn't a bad person!"
"Cher?" a shocked Mercedes asked. "Cher set me up?"
The episode finished off with Mercedes struggling to process the news.
Hollyoaks currently airs new episodes from Mondays to Fridays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first look screenings at 7pm on E4.
