Yahoo News Hollyoaks' Mercedes McQueen betrays Liam Donovan as shooting nears
Mercedes McQueen has made yet another enemy in Hollyoaks ahead of her shooting plot.
All this week, she's been panicking about being blamed for Harry Thompson's murder since Joel Dexter (Rory Douglas-Speed) found Harry's mobile and listened to her confession to the hit-and-run.
Mercedes was so desperate that she turned to Liam Donovan (Jude Monk McGowan) for help, with Liam agreeing to rough up Joel if Mercy would leave her family to run away with him.
Wednesday's first-look episode (October 16) picked up with Liam in police custody for attacking Joel, yet confident that the charges wouldn't stick since the investigators had no solid evidence.
At the same time, Mercedes took matters into her own hands by slipping into Joel's hospital room and threatening that she'd hurt Goldie (Chelsee Healey) if he told the police the truth.
Her blackmail attempt worked, and Joel ultimately told police he couldn't verify Liam was behind his attack — which forced the authorities to release Liam from custody.
Liam was all smiles as he left the precinct to meet Mercedes at The Folly, only to find a note from her saying she'd just been using him to get the recording and had no intentions of leaving Sylver!
Mercedes's blatant double-cross sets up yet another enemy as the Who Shot Mercedes storyline nears. Earlier this week, all seven official suspects were revealed — with Liam, Joel and Sylver among them!
Once Mercedes is shot, it will be Goldie who becomes an amateur investigator to solve the case, despite having no idea her relative used her to blackmail Joel in the first place!
Hollyoaks airs Mondays through Fridays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first-look episodes airing on E4 at 7pm.
