Hollyoaks' Nikki Sanderson on which Coronation Street friends she'd bring in next

From Digital Spy

Hollyoaks star Nikki Sanderson has revealed which one of her former Coronation Street co-stars she'd bring to play a new character alongside her in the Chesire based soap.

Nikki played the role of Candice Stowe on Coronation Street between 1999 and 2005, and previously mentioned that she would be open-minded about returning to the cobbles in the future. However, she told viewers that she was happy to stay on Hollyoaks, where she has played the role of Maxine Minniver since 2012.

Speaking to Inside Soap, Nikki has shared which members of the Coronation Street cast she'd love to work with again.

She said: "When I was in Corrie, I just had the most amazing time with everybody, so it would be hard to choose. Do I pick a golden oldie who has been there forever, or do I pick one of the people I used to work with all the time?

"Maybe I'd say the younger crowd that I worked with all the time, so someone like Tina [O'Brien, aka Sarah], Samia [Longchambon, aka Maria], Ryan [Thomas, who played Jason Grimshaw] or Alan [Halsall, aka Tyrone]. I've been friends with them for over 20 years."

Meanwhile, Denise Welch recently joined the Hollyoaks cast as Trish, Minnie's mother – and Nikki explained that she was more than happy to see her cast in the role.

"Denise and I have known each other for over 20 years, so as soon as she started filming, we already had that camaraderie, and that mother-daughter vibe going. I think that connection will translate on to screen. Denise is so funny, witty and lovely."

Hollyoaks currently airs new episodes from Mondays to Thursdays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first look screenings at 7pm on E4.
