Tonight's episode of Hollyoaks (May 23) featured a major twist for Sinead Shelby as she was arrested for perverting the course of justice.

Scenes earlier this week saw Sinead (Stephanie Davis) wrongly tell the police that Laurie raped her for the first time on April 1, fearing that the real story wouldn't be believed as they posed for a seemingly-happy family photo together not long after the traumatic incident.

In Wednesday's first look episode, Sinead then went to lawyer Sami Maalik (Rishi Nair) for help, explaining how she gave the wrong date and now fears Laurie will walk free.

During tonight's episode, Diane, Scott and Tony promised Sinead that they believe her, and that Laurie will pay.

Later on, Sienna paid Sinead a visit and called a truce in emotional scenes after Sinead previously asked her to lie to the police to help support her story.

However, Laurie later goaded Sinead into attacking him at Price Slice and she also threatened to kill him as a concerned Walter and Martine watched on.

Soon after, the police arrived at Sienna's flat and told Sinead she needed to come to the station. They informed her that they believe she gave them calculated lies, before arresting her for perverting the course of justice, and for the attack and threats to Laurie.

Will Laurie ever face justice?

Hollyoaks airs weeknights at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first look screenings at 7pm on E4.
