Hollyoaks real-life couple Gregory Finnegan and Ariana Fraval have sparred on-screen in intense scenes.

The married pair, who have three children together in real life, are on opposing sides of Sally St. Claire's imprisonment for murdering George Kiss, even though James is the one who tipped off DS Cohen over Sally's escape attempt.

Now on the outs with on-off love interest John Paul McQueen because of his betrayal, James had a confrontation with DS Cohen to levy some serious accusations against her colleagues.

"I've set something in motion, something that will expose the corruption at the heart of Deer Valley Police," he warned. "Your department, your responsibility."

While James admitted he thought DS Cohen was "one of the good ones", the lawyer accused her colleague PC Smith of being "corrupt".

Viewers know this to be true, as PC Smith initially helped George to fake his own death to manipulate John Paul and tampered with George's clothes to plant Sally's DNA after his partner's real murder.

"You do exactly as I say, and you and your career can emerge from this unscathed," James warned.

The duo took part in a sting operation where John Paul informed PC Smith about a new expert witness who could prove his tampering.

When PC Smith tried to dispose of the evidence in a panic, John Paul, James and DS Cohen emerged from the shadows to catch him in the act!

"You'll go down for this," DS Cohen threatened.

John Paul headed off to the hospital to deliver the news to Sally that the CPS had no choice but to throw out the case because of the level of police corruption.

"You won't be coming home tonight, but James says there's no chance of you going back to prison," John Paul revealed to a relieved Sally.

However, the surprises weren't over for the night! John Paul and James later regrouped to discuss the days's events, and when one thing led to another, John Paul invited his ex into his bedroom.

What will James do?
