Hollyoaks spoilers follow.
Hollyoaks has confirmed that Luke Morgan's mum Sue is making a return to the soap with Doctors star Marian McLoughlin taking over the role.
Sue Morgan, then played by Eve White, was last seen in Hollyoaks back in 2002, when she moved to France with her husband Andy and daughter Beth.
But upcoming scenes on the Channel 4 soap will see Sue make her return to Hollyoaks village with some heartbreaking news for her son Luke (Gary Lucy).
While the reunion between the estranged pair is set to be frosty, Sue and Luke will try and rebuild their relationship, but it seems it won't be easy for them.
Speaking of joining the cast of Hollyoaks, Marian said: "It's always a bit like your first day at school. You would think after 40 years or so of acting I would be used to it, but on Hollyoaks, from the moment I arrived, I was made to feel so welcome.
"I love playing Sue. She doesn't have a filter and thinks she can say whatever she likes. She's sort of passive-aggressive, she smiles at you, but then there is a real sting in the tail.
"It is a treat playing Luke’s mum. She is on a mission for Luke to be happy – at least her vision of what that should be. She has come back to make her peace with her son, for her neglectful mothering in the past.
"I'm so pleased to be filming alongside Gary – I couldn't have wished for a more caring and generous actor to work with, and with a great sense of humour."
Hollyoaks airs Marian McLoughlin's first scenes as Sue Morgan on Monday, May 3 at 7pm on E4. The episode airs at 6.30pm on Tuesday, May 4 on Channel 4.
