It seems Ryan Knight's return to Hollyoaks and his determination to win back Amy Barnes is about to pay off as the couple are finally getting to walk down the aisle in a new Hollyoaks teaser video.

The soap has released a clip featuring showing Duncan James and Ashley Slanina-Davies decked out in their best wedding day outfits as the couple's characters prepare to walk down the aisle, and it's safe to say the two nearly nearly-weds certainly look like they're enjoying the festivities.

Which can only mean something horrible is about to happen. When has a wedding day ever gone right in Hollyoaks?

The clip opens with Duncan and Ashley enjoying a little sing-song of 'Chapel of Love' to get in the mood for a good wedding day but then Ashley has to go and drop a little hint that the day won't exactly be completely free of drama.

"Amy is getting married, "Ashley teased. "So tune in, don't miss it. Because we all know weddings at Hollyoaks tend to... yeah."

Which is suitably vague and dramatic, just as we'd expect from any soap wedding really.

Of course, this is one wedding that won't end in a happily ever after for the couple as we all know Amy will be killed off the show soon enough, although there's been no hints about how it is that she will be written out.

Hollyoaks bosses are keeping who - or what - causes her mysterious death to themselves for now to keep fans guessing but that didn't stop them from releasing heartbreaking audio of Ryan arriving home to their flat and finding her dead.

"Please, you need to help her. She's not breathing," he says on the clip. "I think she's dead."

Ashley has played the role of Amy on and off since 2005. Her most recent stint on our screens kicked off late last year, when she returned to the regular cast following a number of guest appearances since her original exit in 2012.

Ryan's return to the soap will be aired next week on Thursday, March 23 and Friday, March 24 on Channel 4 , with the wedding itself following the week after.

Hollyoaks airs weeknights at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first look screenings at 7pm on E4.
