Hollyoaks has cast Talia Grant's real parents for a scene with her character Brooke Hathaway.

Brooke will be rushed into labour next week on the soap, with her boyfriend Ollie Morgan (Aedan Duckworth) still hoping that they can somehow raise their child together.

The teen mum has other plans and will start meeting potential couples to adopt her child — including actress Talia's real-life mum and dad, Carrie and David Grant.

Ahead of their appearance on screen, the Grants admitted that it was "a bit scary" to be filming Hollyoaks because their daughter is so much more experienced on camera.

"It felt like role reversal," David explained. "Talia is now so experienced and we were in her environment… we felt like the kids!"

Carrie agreed: "So special, a great opportunity. Having Talia there just made it like it was more home-life than work!"

Asked if it was an odd experience watching their daughter's birthing scenes, Carrie answered: "Oh yes! All my maternal instincts were wanting to just cuddle her but obviously that's Nancy's job!"

There were even times where the Grants found it challenging to separate their daughter from the character she plays on the Channel 4 soap.

"I had to get myself into a headspace where I wasn't watching Talia, my daughter but Brooke, an unknown person," David acknowledged.

His wife confessed: "I think I just acted like it was Talia!"

David has some experience with acting at The National Theatre, which made being on set with his daughter a very rewarding moment.

He also praised Hollyoaks for tackling such an important issue, since he has adopted within in his own family.

"We are currently supporting a number of UK campaigns encouraging more people to adopt and we are Ambassadors of Adoption UK, so it's great that Hollyoaks is covering this story," Carrie noted.

"It's a fact that BAME children are very hard to place so it’s even more encouraging that the baby we are adopting in Hollyoaks is mixed race."

When quizzed on if they'd like to have a full-time role on the soap, David quipped: "Oh go on then!"

"I'm waiting for the phone to ring," Carrie cheekily added.
