Hollyoaks will reveal an unexpected twist in the trial of JJ Osborne as he shocks the courtroom.

The teenager was arrested earlier this year after he sexually abused his twin sister, Frankie, with the one-year time jump confirming that she had continued to take legal action against him.

The trial was delayed, however, when JJ collapsed outside of the court and was subsequently diagnosed with leukaemia. Frankie later donated her bone marrow to save his life.

With JJ on the road to recovery, the trial is set to get underway in next week’s scenes, and Frankie tells Darren and Nancy that she is ready. With her family and JJ watching on, Frankie recalls the painful memories of her brother’s abuse.

In an emotional speech, the teen explains why she felt comfortable enough to tell the truth to Darren, who was later called to the witness stand himself in addition to Nancy and grandfather Jack.

It was then JJ’s turn to provide his testimony, with the character going back on his word by refusing to confess to his crimes. He brands Frankie a “liar”, and the family and court are shocked at his words.

This leads to a nervous wait for the family as they await the verdict – will Frankie get the justice she deserves?

With the storyline seemingly set to conclude in the coming weeks, Isabelle Smith – who debuted as Frankie in 2024 – previously spoke about the important arc, sharing that she felt “privileged” to be a part of the narrative.

“I felt so privileged that they trusted me and felt I was capable of doing the storyline; it was an amazing honour,” she said. “The only reservation was being able to do it justice. I wanted to give victims of sibling sexual abuse a voice – it's something that isn't talked about so it was important that they were seen.”

Hollyoaks airs on Mondays-Wednesdays with its Channel 4 streaming premiere at 7am, then an E4 broadcast the same night at 7pm. Full episodes are also released on YouTube a week after their Channel 4 release.

Selected omnibus episodes are available via Prime Video.
