Hollyoaks has just aired its shocking school explosion – and it was just as spectacular as we've come to expect from the soap's show-stopping stunts.

At least one character is about to be killed off after Mac Nightingale caused a deadly accident at Hollyoaks High.

Friday's E4 first look episode (October 27) saw teachers and students gather at the school for a prize-giving ceremony, organised in memory of tragic teen Jade Albright.

When Mac (David Easter) caught his partner Neeta Kaur there after another secret meeting with her on-off lover Hunter McQueen, he dragged her into the boiler room for a showdown.

Mad Mac hit the boiler in anger but accidentally loosened a valve, unwittingly causing a dangerous gas leak.

As Mac's fury escalated even further, he vengefully set fire to a drawing that Hunter had done of him and Neeta – causing an earth-shattering explosion when the flames hit the leaking gas.

While the stunt itself was certainly impressive, the best is still to come as there are massive episodes airing on Monday and Tuesday on E4 too.

Dramatic scenes coming up include Prince McQueen rushing to the rescue of his fellow teens, and Luke Morgan sharing a shocking secret with Darren Osborne while they're trapped in an air vent together.

We'll also see Neeta facing a tough decision over whether to help Mac or let him die when she has the chance to leave him trapped in one of the classrooms.

And most importantly, who will die as the stakes get higher?
