Hollyoaks serial killer Breda McQueen has struck once again just as her past may have come back to haunt her.

On what was supposed to be her wedding week, Breda (Moya Brady) has instead been on the warpath, first planning to take out Mercedes McQueen (Jennifer Metcalfe) after overhearing her talking about her affair with Liam (Jude Monk McGowan).

Mercedes managed to get herself off the hit list by selling out Goldie's (Chelsee Healey) fling with the local priest, Joel Dexter (Rory Douglas-Speed) — which ignited Breda's religious fury.

In Friday's (August 16) first-look episode, Breda confronted Goldie about getting involved with a man of god, only to be assured that her daughter had broken things off once and for all with Joel.

That vow from Goldie seemed to calm Breda down, but it turned out to be yet another ruse, as the couple later promised to carry on their secret romance and even shared that they love each other.

Breda then tried to make things up to Jack Osborne (Jimmy McKenna) for running out on their wedding, only for Jack to admit that he was afraid of getting hurt again.

With the promise that she'd never stray again, the couple agreed to set a new wedding date. With her relationship back on track, Breda set off back to the McQueen house.

It was yet another case of bad timing because Goldie had left a half-naked Joel in bed while she went off to work. The priest tried to hide when Breda got home, so he could slip away unnoticed.

As Joel made his move, Breda caught him in the act — and, in her rage, clocked the priest over the head with her bible to knock him out!

"You are supposed to be a man of God. You have let down all of your children," she snarled. "You are a disgrace. A false prophet. A king of darkness!"

But is Joel actually dead? We'll have to wait until next week to find out...

At the very same time Breda's confrontation with Joel was going down, her partner Jack was fishing… and pulled up a dead body. Is this one of Breda's past victims coming back to haunt her?

Also in Friday's episode, the consequences of Mercedes and Liam's kiss being seen by Bobby started to play out. Liam immediately tried to do damage control by pressuring the boy not to tell what he'd seen.

But little Bobby was feeling guilty, and after a discussion with Charlie Dean (Charlie Behan) about infidelity, he decided he was going to tell Sylver (David Tag) about what he saw!

"I need to tell you what happened yesterday," we saw him telling Sylver."

Hollyoaks airs Mondays through Fridays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first-look episodes airing on E4 at 7pm.
