Hollyoaks spoilers follow.
The Summer Ranger shooting plot has been foreshadowed on-screen by Hollyoaks now that Brody's lies have been exposed.
Last week, Summer (Rhiannon Clements) realised that Warren Fox (Jamie Lomas) was truly behind her father's attack, but had yet to find out Brody (Adam Woodward) actually threw the first punch.
In Monday's (February 22) first-look episode, Brody was relieved to learn from Summer that the police didn't have enough evidence to arrest Warren for the attack.
Brody thought that would be the end of it all, but Summer made it clear that she was far from done when it came to pursuing the truth.
"Dad's responsive, so it's only a matter of time until he gets his speech back," Summer insisted. "And when he does, he'll be able to tell the police everything. Warren is not getting away with it."
When Brody went to Warren and Felix with the news, Warren's first reaction was that they needed to kill Cormac before he could implicate them.
Brody insisted "killing someone isn't an option", instead suggesting they bargain with Cormac – they won't go any further with abuse allegations if Corman agrees not to tell the police that they'd attacked him.
Warren realised that the only way to get Brody to go along with their plan was to send in Sienna, who wasted no time in getting rid of Summer by referring to her as simply a "rebound".
Brody again baulked at Warren's plan to "murder" Cormac, but Sienna insisted: "It's self-preservation. You delivered the first blow. You were there when Warren laid into him, and you did nothing.
"You could go down for this… You are gambling your future on the honour of a racist who physically abuses kids."
Brody finally relented when Sienna explained that he wouldn't have to take part in killing Cormac, all he'd have to do is agree not to stand in Warren's way.
This turned out to be not entirely true, as Brody had to unintentionally distract Summer outside the hospital by telling her that he saw a future together, while Warren snuck in to finish the job.
Later, Brody arrived in Cormac's hospital room to find Warren sitting alone next to an empty hospital bed.
"Cormac's not dead," Warren then revealed. "I was so close, but before I could kill him, a nurse came in and took him down for a CT scan."
The soap then flashed to Summer, who was watching the entire conversation from a hidden camera she'd had placed in her father's hospital room.
She gasped in horror as Brody asked Warren: "So, the plan is still on? You're going to kill Cormac?"
This revelation will lead to some shocking scenes ahead as Summer gets a hold of a gun in order to take revenge on those responsible for hurting her father.
Hollyoaks currently airs new episodes from Mondays to Fridays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first look screenings at 7pm on E4.
