Hollyoaks spoilers follow.
Hollyoaks' Sid Sumner has told a damaging lie about his teacher Courtney Campbell.
Sid (Billy Price) has developed a crush on Courtney (Amy Conachan) as she's shown him encouragement, though she also set clear boundaries that she would never date a student.
In Tuesday's (May 25) first-look episode, Courtney and Juliet were surprised when Sid told them how angry he was to be set up on a blind date with fellow student Raya.
"I don't want to be set up, alright? This is totally awkward," he insisted to both Courtney and Juliet.
His date Raya overheard Sid's confession and, with her feelings hurt, grabbed her coat and walked out on the date.
"I was trying to be polite," Sid reasoned to Juliet. "Don't you think I should have a say on who I go on a date with?"
Later, Sid opened up to pals Tom (Ellis Hollins) and Romeo (Owen Warner) about how the date was doomed because he liked an "older woman", although Romeo tried to warn him.
Romeo echoed his own recent troubles with Mercedes by insisting that although older women may be "cool and sophisticated", all they wanted with younger guys was "sex with no emotional attachment".
Sid lied to impress his friends by claiming he'd already slept with his mysterious older woman and, under pressure from Romeo and Tom to spill the beans, he named Courtney.
Tom and Romeo were utterly shocked by the lies that Sid was telling. Soap spoilers have already revealed Sid's words will cause huge problems for Courtney as she interviews for deputy head teacher at the High School.
Speaking recently to Inside Soap, Amy Conachan noted that Courtney feels conflicted because of all Sid has been through.
"I feel bad for Sid! And I think Courtney does too, she's emotionally aware and mature," the actress explained. "Her job is to work with kids, so she realises why Sid spreads the rumours... So while she's angry, she understands and loves him anyway."
Hollyoaks currently airs new episodes from Mondays to Fridays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first look screenings at 7pm on E4.
