Hollyoaks spoilers follow.
Hollyoaks' Cher Winters is preparing to celebrate her birthday and it's an important one for her as she gets to spend it with her father, Sylver McQueen.
Cher (Bethannie Hare) and Sylver (David Tag) spend time together over a meal, which Sylver's wife Mercedes McQueen is invited to, however she decides to ditch the family gathering.
Halfway through the birthday celebrations, Sylver gets a call about Mercedes (Jennifer Metcalfe) being drunk, so he leaves Cher on her special night to go and find his wife.
"It’s the first birthday Cher’s ever had with her dad, and it means so much to her," Bethannie said.
"I don’t think Cher really cares about anyone else being there as long as she’s with Sylver. So when he leaves to look after Mercedes, it’s like a punch in the face – Cher quickly realises that Mercedes will always come first."
Sylver tries to look after his wife and is concerned that she's hiding something after he finds drugs in her bag. He also realises that he needs to make it up to Cher, as she's been let down by him on her birthday, so he plans another birthday celebration for her.
Bethannie said that Sylver wanted to make it up to Cher but he's unaware of how hurt she is that Mercedes was his priority on her birthday.
Explaining what happens at Cher's birthday, Bethannie said: "Cher goes to her party and everyone’s there, but soon no one’s listening to her, because Mercedes becomes the star of the show – she has Sylver wrapped around her little finger, and she even has Romeo doing what she wants. Cher gets very jealous…"
Mercedes' attention-seeking behaviour pushes Cher to her limit - she plans to take revenge on her and ends up putting Mercedes' life in danger. What will Cher do and will Mercedes be okay?
Hollyoaks will be airing these scenes in the week beginning Monday, February 15 on Channel 4 and E4.
