Hollyoaks newcomer Connor Calland has spoken for the first time about the surprise romantic chemistry between Jordan Price and Leela Lomax.
Official spoilers released by the show have revealed that Jordan will set his sights on Leela (Kirsty-Leigh Porter) when he starts to settle into the village over the coming days.
Speaking about the storyline, Connor explained: "Jordan sees Leela as an attractive guardian for Sid, and she kind of gets drawn in with his flirtatious ways.
"He enjoys the flirt with her because she's the older woman in the house, and he sees that she enjoys it as well, so he plays with it a bit."
On Jordan's interactions with Leela's daughter Peri, Connor continued: "He has a bit of a struggle reading Peri at first because their interaction is quite brief, but I think he knows how to play her a little bit.
"They're both very different and his tactics change a little bit between them both."
Next week's episodes see Jordan step up his attempts to influence Sid, urging him to sell drugs to his friends.
Ominously, Jordan vows to make the Hollyoaks village his new "playground" for criminal activity, setting the stage for some troubling times ahead in the local community.
Connor explained: "He's now starting to realise what he can do, and I think he realises how easy it is to manipulate the people in Hollyoaks, because of how sheltered they are.
"Especially the children, who have always been given what they want, and are not really sure what to do with what they've got. I think he's just taken what they've got and is putting it to better use – well, for his benefit at least.
"I think his plan for them is to slowly integrate them into the big scheme. I don't think there is any rush for him at the moment, so I think it comes across as a bit of a slow burner.
"Sid is also vulnerable at this point. I think it's still very raw after Ste and the whole radicalisation storyline and how that ended. I think it's very easy for Jordan to manipulate and manoeuvre Sid in the direction that Jordan wants him.
"I think it's just the simple case of Sid being the only point of contact Jordan has got within the community. He's still getting to know people in the village, and with what he's doing, there has to be big trust there. Jordan's known Sid his whole life, and he doesn't know anybody else there that well yet."
Connor also promised that there is a backstory to Jordan's character, which partly explains his dark direction.
He said: "It wasn't by choice, but circumstances of family. His mother passing, and his dad not coping with that well, definitely affected Jordan, making him grow up in not ideal circumstances.
"I think Jordan has always looked for a father figure to look out for him and pat him on the back, and it's just a shame he's found that within the drug world. That's the only thing he knows, he's very street wise. He knows that world very well and he's earned respect."
Hollyoaks airs weeknights at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first look screenings at 7pm on E4.
