Hollyoaks star Jessamy Stoddart has revealed more details about her character Liberty Savage's big escape plan, as she makes a desperate attempt to free herself from her captor, Summer Ranger.
Liberty has spent weeks imprisoned in Summer's store cupboard after she discovered the truth about Summer (Rhiannon Clements) shooting Liberty's sister, Sienna Blake (Anna Passey). And with Summer having forged a letter from Liberty claiming that she has left the village of her own accord, Liberty's loved ones aren't busy looking for her.
In scenes to air this week, Liberty thinks that she has finally found a way to escape Summer when she seizes an opportunity to steal a pair of tweezers from a makeup bag Summer leaves in her makeshift prison.
Actress Jessamy has told Inside Soap that Liberty is quick to make the most of her new opportunity, as she is desperate to escape and get back to the village to warn her family and friends about Summer's devious plots.
"Liberty's looking for anything she can use to get out of there!" she said. "Any time something new is left in the cupboard, she's like, 'What can I use this for?' So when Summer leaves behind a make-up bag, Liberty rifles through it and finds the tweezers - then tries to escape with them!"
She added that Liberty's plan could have severe consequences if it goes wrong, with Summer's behaviour becoming increasingly dangerous.
"Liberty's seen films where people pick a lock with a hair grip! So she's going along those lines – she reckons any sharp object will do," she said.
"Will she get away with it? We'll have to see. Summer is definitely capable of doing Liberty some serious harm if she catches her. It could be game over for Liberty if that happens!"
Explaining that Liberty is "terrified" of Summer and is "trying every tactic to get Summer to release her," Jessamy added that Liberty's biggest concern is how her family and friends will be responding to her disappearance.
"It's horrendous for Liberty, because she just doesn't know what Summer is going to do," the actress said. "And I think it's also the fact that she doesn't know what Summer has told her family and friends, so Liberty thinks they'll all be worried and looking for her. Their worry is what concerns her the most."
Will Liberty manage to escape before Summer does something even more dangerous?
Hollyoaks will air Liberty's attempted escape scenes in the week beginning Monday, July 12 on Channel 4.
