Hollyoaks star Glynis Barber, who plays gangster boss Norma, has revealed she's keeping a huge secret from the cast about her character.

Norma – aka The Undertaker – is the dangerous boss of local criminal Ethan Williams and she has just arrived in the village and has a score to settle.

Barber has now revealed that "only a handful of people" know about this secret and promises it will be worth the wait.

"There will be a very big secret that will be coming up in a few months," the actress told Inside Soap. "Only a handful of people know about it – most of the cast have no idea. So, of course, I can't speak about it. But it will be worth the wait, I promise."

Recently, Barber opened up to Digital Spy about upcoming scenes she's been shooting and she's revealed that The Undertaker will be "around for a while".

"Yes, she's going to be around for a while. I know a broad outline of what's coming up. I don't know everything that's going to happen, because things happen every week. I'll get a script and I'll go: 'What?! Really?!'

"I'll have a scene with someone I didn't know I had any connection with, or I didn't think I'd have a scene with.

The actress admitted fans "won't believe" the storylines that she will be involved in and will air in the summer.

"I've just been shooting some scenes today that I absolutely loved, but I can't tell you anything about them, because I think they're for July or June, with a completely different character. They were brilliant. They might even be my favourite scenes so far. You just won't believe these scenes."

Hollyoaks now streams first on All 4, with new episodes dropping each weekday morning. The show airs Mondays to Fridays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, and at 7pm on E4.

Selected omnibus episodes are available via Amazon Prime Video.
