Hollyoaks spoilers follow.
Viewers will start to see hints of it in upcoming scenes, especially as efforts to set him up with Serena Chen-Williams don't go to plan.
Speaking to Inside Soap, actor Ijaz Rana talked about where the story is going to go, saying: "As you can imagine, it does gradually get worse. How much Imran manages to keep to himself is very interesting, especially from the characters he has relationships with.
"There's a lot to be seen in terms of who Imran gets help from — and who he doesn't..."
The actor talked about how dealing with everything affects Imran's blossoming romance with Serena, and explained that there's an element of using her involved.
"Imran does really like Serena, even though she's always had a crush on Sid!" he explained. "Serena's also hugely into training and keeping fit. So what Imran does is try to find more out about her diet.
"He uses that keenness as a bonding technique, but he also wants to get information out of her."
While this is confirmation that things will get worse for Imran before they get better, let's hope he eventually gets the support he needs from his friends and family.
Meanwhile, Coronation Street is also featuring an eating disorder storyline with the character Summer Spellman.
