Hollyoaks star Jeremy Edwards has revealed the truth about his character Kurt Benson's return from the dead.
Last month and coinciding with the Channel 4 soap's 25th anniversary year, the character made a shock return to the village – despite him supposedly dying in a jet ski accident in 1999.
Kurt surprised his best friend Tony with his reappearance and, speaking recently, Jeremy confirmed more details about Kurt's return.
As well as admitting that Kurt's death was a cover for him being "on the run for a long time", Jeremy hinted Kurt is back for more than just a visit and will be sticking around the village for some time to come.
"He didn’t die," Jeremy told The Sun. "It was reported that while he was travelling, he died in a jet-ski accident, but that wasn’t the case.
"He’s been on the run for a long time and he’d had enough of that. He comes back to see Tony, to be home. Put it like this: He’s not disappearing.
"We’re just tackling this storyline of Kurt and Tony reuniting, and trying to help each other. But going forward, there’s so much room.
"Read between the lines — I look forward to working with other characters."
The former The X Factor: Celebrity contestant was an original Hollyoaks cast member. He appeared in the soap from 1995 until his character's supposed death in 1999.
He has previously returned to the soap once before, when Kurt appeared in the 2013 series of Hollyoaks Later.
On that occasion, he appeared as vision in Tony's mind and helped protect Tony's son Harry from danger.
Hollyoaks airs weekdays on Channel 4 and E4.
