Hollyoaks star Ki Griffin teases surprise kiss in hour-long special

Hollyoaks star Ki Griffin has revealed that their character Ripley Lennox is set to share a surprise smooch with a mystery figure in the Channel 4 soap's upcoming hour-long special.

Ahead of the supersized episode, which will feature an all-Black cast as part of the show's Black to Front Project, the actor was asked to talk about the moments they're most excited to see play out onscreen.

"I mean the highlight for me is going to be a cheeky kiss that happens between two particular characters," Griffin teased. "But I think the highlight for everyone is going to be the big stunt moment with Martine and Felix.

"It's going to have everyone on the edge of their seats, really wondering what's going to happen. I think everyone's going to be very very happy with the result."

The outing, which is scheduled to air on Thursday, September 9, will see Felix Westwood (Richard Blackwood) suffer a sailing accident while trying to win back Martine Deveraux (Kelle Bryan).

"I think it's really important because there isn't enough Black representation in film and TV – behind and in front of the lens," Griffin went on. "To put together an amazing hour-long episode with an all-Black cast proves that there is no reason why there shouldn't be more shows doing similar things.

While Griffin didn't specifically state who Ripley will be looking lips with next week, it seems worth noting that they hinted at a possible romance between the character and pal Brooke Hathaway (Tylan Grant) earlier this month.

"There are a lot of fresh relationships coming up!" they told Inside Soap. "And a lot of dynamics we haven't necessarily seen on Hollyoaks in a while. We're also going to see Ripley enamoured – totally in love!"

Hollyoaks airs new episodes from Mondays to Fridays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first-look screenings at 7pm on E4. Selected omnibus episodes are available via Amazon Prime Video.
