The event, created by the leading housing and homelessness charity Shelter, is back for its second year, and will bring people from London and Manchester together on Tuesday, December 3 and Wednesday, December 11 for a night time walk through each city.

Kieron is one of several famous faces to join the cause, including former Manchester United footballer Rio Ferdinand, singer Rita Ora and Kieron's Hollyoaks co-star and I'm a Celeb star Jorgie Porter.

They'll join a group of celebrity supporters, including presenter Edith Bowman, Girls Aloud star Nicola Roberts, Lioness Fara Williams, Spice Girl Mel C and reality star Lydia Bright – all of whom are calling on the nation to sign up to Sleep Walk to Shelter and take part in the walk.

"Homelessness is a huge problem in Manchester and events like Sleep Walk help to raise vital funds to support the adults and children who are experiencing homelessness or bad housing," Kieron said in a statement.

"I can't wait to see the people of Manchester come together in December to take steps with me against homelessness and show their support to those who need it most this winter."

News of Kieron's involvement in the event comes after the confirmation that he will be taking a break from his role as Ste Hay on Hollyoaks.

Ste's far-right extremism storyline will finally come to a head in next week's hour-long special.

Upcoming scenes will see Ste step up his efforts to get himself out of Stuart Sumner's racist group, culminating in a dramatic clifftop sequence that will lead to a departure plot for Ste.

Hollyoaks airs weeknights at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first look screenings at 7pm on E4.
