Hollyoaks star Niamh Blackshaw has promised fans that they are working hard to get the "best episodes" out for the soap's 25th anniversary.

The Channel 4 series recently returned to filming amid the COVID-19 pandemic with new restrictions in place, ahead of a return to screens in September.

However, October 2020 will mark 25 years since Hollyoaks first aired, and it seems that we should be in for some big episodes to celebrate the occasion.

"It's been really strange coming back with all the new rules and regulations," the Juliet Quinn actress said in an Instagram video.

"But we're all working really hard to make sure that we get the best episodes out for the Hollyoaks 25th anniversary."

The soap itself captioned the clip: "As you know #Hollyoaks is up and running again, filming brand new episodes for your screens! Following the new distancing regulations, the cast are also doing their own hair and makeup, and a great job at it too!"

Indeed, Hollyoaks has been posting pictures of the cast returning to filming on set ahead of its return in September.

Meanwhile, Sami Maalik actor Rishi Nair has called for his character to be reunited with some absent family members.

Hollyoaks was airing Mondays and Tuesdays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, while first-look episodes aired on E4 at 7pm. Wednesdays through Fridays on E4 featured classic episodes called Hollyoaks Favourites, but a new series called Holloaks@25 began on Monday (July 27) on E4 at 7pm.
