Hollyoaks spoilers follow.

Hollyoaks star Owen Warner has teased the identity of Romeo Nightingale's new love interest on the Channel 4 soap.

Romeo is currently in a relationship with Cher Winters (Bethannie Hare), but when things between the two of them become strained in upcoming episodes, he'll turn his attention to a "more mature" woman.

Speaking to Inside Soap, the actor revealed that Grace Black (Tamara Wall) will make a move on Romeo after she misreads his signals. And although he won't reciprocate, the experience will leave him wondering whether older women are interested in him, too.

Asked if he could reveal who his new mystery woman is, Warner said: "I can't tell you, but it's not Cher. It's a more mature lady. I do think the audience will be surprised. It's something you won't see coming.

"And it might not work, as he's still split between this new woman and Cher – however, whether the mystery woman will want Romeo or not is a different story."

Can viewers expect to see Romeo pulling out all the stops to impress his new love interest?

"Well, Romeo's such a romantic, and he believes that no one has experienced love like he did with Lily. He wants that again, but bigger and better, with even more grand gestures."

He added: "We'll have to wait and see if it that works or not."

Hollyoaks currently airs new episodes from Mondays to Thursdays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first look screenings at 7pm on E4.
