Yahoo News Hollyoaks star predicts Maxine turnaround after 'hate' from fans
Hollyoaks star Nikki Sanderson believes that the viewer reaction to her character Maxine Minniver will turn around.
Maxine has Munchausen's syndrome, but had drawn a hateful reaction from fans after recent storylines saw her faking health concerns due to the psychological disorder.
Maxine is focused now on "slowly trying to rebuild her life", and Nikki told the Daily Star that viewers will "see a different side to her" in upcoming episodes.
"The audience have hated Maxine, but I think people will see a different side to her and be more sympathetic," she explained.
"When I get messages saying everyone hates her, I think I'm doing my job right. But you get some who are just being nasty for no reason."
Meanwhile, Liam Donovan is targeting Maxine for revenge, as he wrongly believes she was responsible for his brother Jesse's death. Nikki commented that Liam will make Maxine's life extremely difficult.

"She's not got many paths to walk down, and it's going to be a rough one," she said. "She is massively struggling, and Liam manipulates the situation and uses it against her.
"She is going to have a difficult few weeks.
"Hollyoaks are always striving to do storylines that are current, and I think it is really important to explore different topics."
Hollyoaks airs weeknights at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first look screenings at 7pm on E4.
